Ear

A rectangle. Three horizontal bars inside. A crossbar extending at the bottom. If you draw the ear canal in cross-section, this is exactly what you get — three chambers, one passage. 耳 is the organ that catches sound, that listens without asking. It passes that listening into every kanji it builds.
